To Update your receiver, or if you are experiencing lost TV channels, please follow the steps below.

1. Use the DISH receiver Remote control and press the Satellite button to turn off the receiver.
2. Once the receiver is off (on standby mode), you can walk away, as the receiver is now receiving new software from the satellite. This process may take up to 30 minutes.
3. Turn on the receiver using the remote control.
4. Your screen will come back, and you will see the receiver processing steps 1-5. Just watch it until the process is finished.
5. Press the menu button, this will take you to the main menu screen, press number pad 6, then 1, then 1 again.
6. Navigate to the right where there is an option for “Check Switch”, press select on the remote.
7. Next screen will say, “Install summary”, navigate to the test button, and press select, and once it is finished, then press the cancel button 5 times. This will navigate you back to watch TV.
8. You should receive a TV signal now.

What are the benefits of DISH Network periodically updating receiver software?

From time to time, DISH updates the software in the receivers to improve the performance or add new features. There is no charge for these enhancements. Please note that the receiver must be in standby mode (plugged in but turned off) to receive software downloads successfully.

The download process takes between 5 and 15 minutes. DISH recommends that it’s best to leave the receiver off overnight, or when you are not watching TV for an extended period of time.
